Canon: MS Paint Adventures: Homestuck
Character: Terezi Pyrope
Timeline: The dream bubble with Aranea, before they reached the "cute bubblegum moon", during Act 6 Intermission 2.
Personality:
Terezi's outgoing and a bit of a flirt. She's good-humored and often kind of silly. Her own sense of humor can tend towards the morbid, though, so what she considers a harmless joke may disturb others. If she wasn't already trying to disturb them, that is. She likes to mess with people and enjoys getting on others' nerves. One way she likes to do this is to accuse people of being insensitive about her blindness. (She actually isn't sensitive about her blindness, and sometimes makes blind-jokes herself.) Another is her occasional insistence that she considers her plushies to be alive. She enjoys manipulating people as well as getting under their skin.

She's often grinning maniacally and/or cackling, even if the situation calls for a completely different reaction. This appeared to be a trait she shared in common with her lusus, as after it was prototyped into sprite form it giggled maniacally quite a bit.

She isn't particularly malicious in general, even if she does enjoy a good hanging. Still, she has killed other trolls, usually in sessions of FLARPing. These tended to be through trickery more than through dealing violence personally, but she has also "gotten her hands dirty". The troll mindset towards violence and murder is much more permissive than typical human ways of thinking, and she isn't regarded as particularly violent from a troll viewpoint.

She has a strong sense of justice, and believes she enjoys "orchestrating the demise of the wicked". She enjoys playing lawyer (which in troll society, means judge, jury, and executioner) with her numerous dragon plushies. She doesn't typically seek to seriously harm anyone for wronging her herself; she reserves such punishment only for those who unjustly harm or pose a threat to others. She can still sometimes let things slide that she probably shouldn't, though, out of a desire to avoid actual conflict with her friends. She has shown regret over executing her former friend Vriska, despite still believing that it was just and that she had no other choice.

Background:
Terezi's early life was pretty much the same as any other troll's. She began life as a grub, spun her cocoon, and faced her trials when she emerged. She was victorious, and was chosen by an animal guardian (a lusus). Oddly she was somehow chosen by a dragon lusus who hadn't even hatched yet. How exactly that worked is never explained. At any rate, she had the construction drones construct her a tree-hive near her lusus' egg. She aged and learned and grew, just like most young trolls.

Her life got much more interesting later. By this point she had developed an interest in FLARPing (Extreme Role-Playing, that often left players injured or dead), and was part of a two-troll team with Vriska Serket; they called themselves the Scourge Sisters. In Terezi's mind their characters were a vigilante duo who dealt out justice to the wicked (aka fed them to Vriska's hungry lusus). She had more and more doubts that Vriska was of the same mindset as time went along, and eventually grew to feel that Vriska in fact was not interested in justice at all! But she didn't take action until Vriska crippled one friend of theirs and killed another. Even then, she tried to give Vriska a chance to dissuade her from doing something about it, but for whatever reason Vriska just dug herself in deeper with flippancy. Then Terezi contacted a mysterious man her fellow Scourge Sister had been dealing with, "Mr. Vanilla Milkshake" (Doc Scratch). When she told him that his young partner had one of his magic cue balls, he lost it and the cue ball exploded in Vriska's face, severely maiming her, but not killing her as Terezi had expected. Through complicated mind-control shenanigans, Vriska managed to get her revenge by influencing Terezi to stare at Alternia's sun, blinding her and leaving her eyes a burnt red.

Somewhat understandably, the Scourge Sisters disbanded.

Terezi's lusus was able to communicate with her through her dreams however, and taught her how to see the way Alternian dragons do: through smelling and tasting color. Terezi came to prefer this new way of sensing over sight, feeling that it drew her closer to her lusus. Terezi also suspected that for some reason, deep down, she didn't want to be able to see; because otherwise why would her dream self be blind as well?

Her life continued, fairly uneventful, until her friend Sollux messaged her about the new game he and Aradia had designed, SGRUB. He wanted her to be a team captain, to which she agreed--however, before she could recruit anyone, another friend, Karkat, started getting on her case about how he should be leader. Terezi didn't really care about being the "leader", feeling the title was rather meaningless, and agreed. All it did, according to what she told Karkat, was determine which of them got to enter the game first. So she graciously let him him have that honor, while she took the lowly position of being his Server Player--a position that just so happened to give her complete control over his environment.

Terezi's role in much of their SGRUB session wasn't particularly noteworthy. Suffice to say, the troll kids won their game and were just about to claim their prize when Jack Noir, the omnipotent antagonist from the human kids' session of SBURB, universe-skipped to kill the trolls. Fortunately they were teleported away before he could do anything. They hid out in a meteor in the Veil. After a while Terezi got a cash transfer from an unknown source. It was an enormous amount of money, and also reflected the numerals of the blind prophets (413). She knew it had to mean something. She had it traced back to the source, and discovered the human kids' game session. And one Dave Strider in particular. Karkat then got a number of his fellow trolls to, well, troll them. Terezi was among this number.

She talked to Dave first, intrigued after watching him grow up through Trollian's viewfinder. They had an amusing verbal sparing match and exchanged drawings.

She also trolled John Egbert at some point, and was so good at being creepy that he changed his chumhandle in fear. The next time she trolled him, she was more helpful, although her stated interest was solely to mess with the timeline and see what happened. What happened was John died and Dave had to use his Knight of Time abilities to jump back in time and warn John not to listen to her. Then Dave gave Terezi a lecture about not messing with John, and she was disturbed to discover that she had just killed a guy for absolutely no reason, offshoot timeline or not. She did bother John again, but this time it was to actually be properly helpful instead of just messing with him.

After helping John that last time, she focused more on Dave, mostly because he was a lot of fun to talk to. They continued to chat and exchange really terrible art with each other. She eventually talked him into rigging his planet's stock market using his powers, and then sending past!Terezi exactly 413 boonbonds. She never bothered to explain why this was important and he never really pressed the issue, despite the fact that his planet's natives tried to cook and eat him in response.

Eventually Dave came upon his quest bed and was surprised to see himself already there, asleep. At this point Terezi explains that she tricked him into making an offshoot timeline where he got to attain god tier more quickly--or would get to if he killed his offshoot self. Dave refused, claiming that the other Dave was doomed anyway, and left. Afterwards, the offshoot Dave woke up and hopped off the quest bed--and was immediately killed by Bec Noir. Terezi ended up running from the trolls' computer room in tears.

While she was crying off by herself, she was startled to discover Tavros' skewered body. She decided to "investigate the crime scene" and retrieved three of her dragon plushies (scalemates) from her sylladex to act as her forensics team. She immediately decided that Vriska was responsible, but pretended not to "know" that yet to make things more fun. She puttered about with her scalemate team for a while, but ultimately discarded them when they become blood-soaked. Finally she decided that she ought to revive her friend, removed her glasses, and steeled herself to kiss him, which would summon his dream self to take over. Unfortunately, his dream self was already dead, and nothing happened.

After losing her glasses (which she occasionally used to communicate with the other trolls), Terezi went back to the computer lab to inform the others of the murder. She instead found the computer lab empty, save for the corpse of Feferi and a lot of Kanaya's blood. She incorrectly decided that Vriska was responsible for these murders as well. She then tried to contact Karkat, but he had blocked her because crazed sober Gamzee had been using Terezi's glasses to troll him.

She was contacted by Sollux and they caught each other up to speed. Then she was bitten by Kanaya (who was now a troll!vampire) and passed out. After waking up, Terezi couldn't remember where she left off with Dave and unintentionally started talking to him nonlinearly, selecting a point before he even asked her about how to reach god tier. She told him what had been going on with Vriska, and how Vriska had even been complicit in Jack Noir's rise to power. She planned to bring Vriska to justice, but she was hesitating. She knew that if she let Vriska go fight Jack, he would be able to find the trolls' meteor and would wipe them out. But she was still afraid that when the time came, she wouldn't be able to bring herself to kill the other girl. She asked for advice from Dave, but he couldn't really help her. She decided to go ahead with her plan.

On her way to find Vriska, she found a note pinned to the floor and written in Gamzee's blood. Before she could read the note, it turned out the note had been pinned to a trapdoor. She fell into a secret room, where she found her old FLARPing costume and accessories. Caught up in nostalgia, she dressed up as her old character, before remembering to check the note that had led her to the room in the first place. She followed its instructions to meet Vriska on the roof.

There she and Vriska engaged in a battle of nerve. Terezi would flip her two-headed coin, with the possible results being that Vriska stayed, or that Vriska would be allowed to "go", aka she would turn her back to leave and Terezi would then kill her. Terezi saw what would happen if she wasn't able to kill her former friend and forced herself to go through with it. (Doc Scratch's clock decrees the death "just", meaning that Vriska would not come back to life as she normally would as a god tier player.)

Terezi was witness to Karkat calming Gamzee, Sollux half killing himself to get the meteor to the GREEN SUN, and Karkat getting hit in the face with a bucket after they joined up with Dave and Rose. Sollux's half ghost and newly god tiered Aradia gave the meteor a push off towards the new session (as this session of SBURB was in the process of being scratched).

As they traveled, Terezi spent a lot of time with Dave; in particular they worked on Can Town together with the Mayor. At one point, about a year into the trip, the meteor approached a dream bubble. Terezi entered it alone, and started crying as she realized it was a memory of Vriska taunting her after her blinding. The dream vision of Vriska, however, actually turned out to be a dead ancestor of Vriska's named Aranea. She and Terezi started to have a philosophical discussion concerning Terezi's guilt over killing her former friend as they climbed a tree branch up toward one of Alternia's moons, where they were going to meet up with Terezi's fellow travellers and an old friend Aranea hadn't seen in a long time. Aranea also explained some of the history of the different sessions of SGRUB/SBURB. Aranea offered to heal Terezi's blindness, but Terezi turned her down.

Terezi was almost at the moon when she was taken and appeared in Adstringendum.

Abilities/Additional Notes:
Terezi is blind, with completely red eyes. Due to this blindness, her lusus taught her to smell and taste colors. Using this ability she is able to draw (badly), fight with her cane (well), and read non-trollbraille text, among a number of otherwise-mundane tasks that would be far more difficult if not impossible for a blind person. She often claims this ability also allows her to smell lies and such. In practice it always seems more like a figure of speech than anything--or perhaps a false claim meant to unsettle others. The ability to sense lies is more a result of her own intellect than her unusual sense of smell.

Additionally, Terezi is the Seer of Mind. Canon is a little unclear as to what that means, precisely, but so far her use of her Seer powers seem to indicate that the Seer of Mind is able to "see" potential outcomes of different courses of action. She cannot always accurately predict outcomes and she has to consciously try to "see" the possibilities (failing to do so led to at least one of the doomed timelines in canon). She is also resistant to mind control powers.

That takes care of what's abnormal for a troll. Trolls in general are also different from humans in a number of significant ways. They're faster and stronger, with tougher skin, and teeth and horns that can grow back if knocked out. They also tend to have a writing quirk. Since her's is one of the more annoying quirks, I'll default to video or audio, and just have a special permissions post for people to opt in.

Her sylladex, which I understand will explode upon arrival, contains:
Redglare dragon head swordcane
Redglare FLARPing costume
Pyralsprite plushie
1 purple scalemate
Box of colored chalk
SBURB disc 1

Sample Journal Post:
[The screen is dark. Somebody's PCD is obviously trying to broadcast something, but... oh wait, the image is clearing up. There's a troll there, this one with completely red eyes (or are those shades?), and something teal-ish is just slipping inside of her mouth. Her tongue perhaps. It's hard to make out much more, as the image is still really blurry for some reason, almost like there's a thin layer of slime over... Uh. Was she just licking the screen? Is that what just happened here?]

Hey. (Hehehehe) [She grins just a little too widely.]

I just stopped in to ask how I got this tiny licorice husktop, and who else is in this dream bubble. Anyone I know in here? Specifically, I'm asking where the fuck Aranea went. We were kind of in the middle of something.

[She waits a moment before continuing.]

Are you seriously giving a blind girl the silent treatment?

Sample RP:
Terezi was taking a little walk. Just a little something to help clear her mind. This was the most ridiculous situation. Here she was, in the middle of an important conversation with a very pleasant version of Vriska, when suddenly the definition of 'here' was changed right out from under her.

Well...

Perhaps 'ridiculous' was the wrong word. John was ridiculous. Can Town, for all its glory, was ridiculous. She cackled a bit. Yeah, perhaps a better word for this situation would be 'inconvenient'.

Her cane found another pile of something in her way, and she paused to tap out a path around it. It was annoying when the path and the piles were the same color. Made it very hard to sniff things out before she tripped over them. But she had her cane. And Karkat wondered why she bothered carrying it around, ha! She indulged in a private giggle. It was like people forgot she was blind, or something!

She sniffed at her surroundings. A lot of the things surrounding her were very similar colors. She would have to practice discerning the more delicate aromas separating variations in shade. That... might actually be beyond her abilities. She frowned for a moment, then shrugged with a wide grin. She'd manage, and more! She'd never not passed a challenge with flying colors. That reminded her of how she'd been able to get the job done with Vriska, despite her own serious doubts and... stopped walking. She didn't want to think about that. She didn't have a second viewpoint to discuss things with, as she had when Aranea was around. She'd just keep second-guessing herself if she brooded about it by herself, so it would be pointless. Best to focus on something else. Yes, that was definitely the best decision.

She started walking again. There seemed to be an awful lot of piles of... something strewn about. Perhaps she'd be able to build an even more spectacular Can Town!

She caught a whiff of something green and abruptly changed direction to seek out its source. Perhaps it would lead to a more interesting (colorful) part of this wrecked hivecluster. Something to keep her mind--something interesting.
